Shauna Veasey | American Boho Sneak Peak/Blog

What can I say about Shauna? She is an amazing friend, photographer and a great mentor. She has taught me so much about photography and given me many opportunities to explore and perfect my craft. We always have such a blast when we work together. It's always full of laughs, learning and we are constantly teaching each other something new. It's so nice to have someone that can teach you something new and in return do the same for them. I was beyond thrilled when she let me photograph her (most photographers prefer to stay behind the camera. Myself included). Photographing fellow photographers can be extremely nerve racking but she made it so much fun. She allowed me to take control and put my vision into a photograph while at the same time putting her own ideas in as well.

I have always loved non traditional photography. I prefer more emotion pulling photography. The depth of the human emotion is what I want to portray in a photo whether that be happy, serious, sad, deep in thought or so on. In this session I felt more free to express my ideas and thoughts. Shauna was such a great model. Was willing to do whatever I wanted her to do no matter how awkward she might have felt. She pushed through the heat and the bug bites just so that I could get the shot I had in mind. Many times we just came up with something and just rolled with it.

We were able to put together both of our ideas and come up with a great photo over and over.
She allowed me to practice my angles and gave me awesome tips to better my photo. She was throwing ideas out left and right while also hearing what I had in mind for the direction of the shoot.
I feel like I have truly discovered the type of photography I enjoy. Not just the Boho style (which I throughly love) but the care free , natural and full on emotion. I was able to photograph many different emotions and had a great time doing it. I have never been so satisfied with my photos as I have with this session. I felt like I was able to be me and do what I enjoy and not feel tense. I love photographing all types of styles but this was truly something that I will remember as a great teaching tool. Shauna has been more than supportive of my passion for photography and I couldn't ask for a better person to be in my life. Thank you Shauna for being such a good sport and allowing me to make my vision happen! It truly means a lot to me!

Yes I put make up on my 10 year old but only for fun!

I have been blessed with the best model who is willing to do anything I ask. Who is she?? My 10 year old daughter Kaitlyn. She is growing up and of course maturing and wanting to venture into make up and nails and so on. However she didn't realize that wearing make up takes time and she saw first hand that it can be tedious but enjoyed being dolled up
. Now I am usually not ok with her wearing make up since she is only 10 and I want her to be a child for as long as possible, but I wanted to try something different. She has beautiful eyes and I wanted them to pop. I decided to add some eye liner, mascara and some eye shadow and see what fun we could have with them. It made the biggest different in my opinion from past photo sessions I have done with her.

She is such a beautiful girl I really wanted to see what more direction I could go with her look. While I am still not ok with her wearing make up outside of the house I thought this was a fun session for both us. She loved being pampered and getting dolled up and I loved getting the chance to photograph in a different style. I am in love with the Boho look.

I tried to make it kid friendly but still a little more mature look. I feel that my mission was accomplished. I am looking forward to expanding more ideas into the form of a picture.
Not too bad for quick a idea and this took about 45 minutes from start to finish. Make up and shooting! I love when quick ideas that just pop in your head come together so well!

Sweet baby Sam

CeCe Riders

I have many amazing opportunities to photograph many different types of events, but photographing CeCe Riders took it to a whole new level. This event was very close to my heart. A very dear friend of mine Shanna has a beautiful little girl named Cecileigh. CeCe as everyone calls her was born at 26 weeks and weighed a little over a pound. Cece was born with several medical problems which led to her diagnoses of hydrocephalus. Shanna was told that not much hope for survival and after two years of hard work, hospital visits and constant love and care, CeCe just celebrated her 2nd birthday!!
CeCe Riders was put together by The Southies Crew and had many different sponsors show their support.  These amazing, kind hearted and loving men and women worked super hard to pull this off and they did an awesome job!  I had the honor of getting to photograph a special memory for Shanna as well as the people who put it all together for her and CeCe.. We are both special needs mothers. We have an amazing bond and it felt good to be there to capture and to show my support for such a great cause. I also was able to meet another fellow special needs mother Amber. It's great when an event can bring together a community and also to allow you to meet other mothers like yourself. Very rewarding. I am looking forward to photographing Amber's son Caige (who also suffers with hydrocephalus) ride.
